Hope all is well with you.
- We are fine here hoping to take a rest after dts * graduation.
My family well and our son doing well. He weighs 10kg [22pouds}.He will be 6 months next month 10Th. He is overweight but since he is only breast feeding the doctor said he is OK. He is growing fast and all the clothes we had no longer fit him. We are planning to buy him new clothes.
- . I'm grateful to God for taking care of us during Disciple Training S. - outreach. It was my 10th DTS to lead and i experienced God in a new way. Our main focus for this outreach was to work with people affected by post election violence.
We also worked with schools, hospitals, and HIV positive people. I was leading a team of 18.
- We started our outreach in Nakuru a town in rift valley province of Kenya. It was a town that was affected by post election violence but most people were settled by the government. Our 2nND week was near Eldoret town, the place where people were burnt in the church.
-
We stayed in a internally displaced people camp in town called Burnt Forest.
-
- We were reconciling the kikuyus and the kalenjins the two hostile tribes. There was hatred between them. Our aim was to bring the youth together. Many people had lost family members and we had to listen to sad stories.
- All the Kikuyu'slost all their property thro fire and stealing. all the churches, schools and public properties in kikuyu areas were burnt down. The church members were very strong but the others were soo bitter with God.
God gave us favor among the two tribes. We visited both camps and after two weeks of, we organised the youth fellowship for the two tribes.
We had it in kalenjin camp and both tribes attended. Though there was still tension, God ministered to all of us and at the end we agreed our host church will keep on with that ministry.
- Most of youths were infected with AIDS through raping.. Others they had nowhere to run to and they had to use sex as way to get food and accomadation.
-
- Families broke especially cross tribal marriages. Most women were raped. Unwanted pregnancies and sexual transmitted diseases have broken families.
-
These are the things that were common in refuge camps.
We were grateful to God for that healing process.
-
Our observation was that hearting people hurts.
-
One day we had a soccer match with the kalenjins camp and and a young man came with a sword and to kill someone. Even his family members could not restrain him and we had to leave the field.
We experience that people who killed others their concioconsciousad. They are doing crazy evil things.
-
We continued with our outreach in some other parts of Rift Valley Nyanza province. Challeges were the same. Most of all these places were war zones during post election violence.
-
To us as a team we had a time to fast and thank God for his goodness in our lives. We no that he is God and will heal all those broken hearts.
-
We had our graduation last friday Friday . We had a time to celebrate god doing.
-
Now I'm hoping to take 2 weeks holiday back at home. Hope that God will provide all our travel expenses to home and staff fees when we come back..
After holiday we shall continue with base ministries in school and churches.
-
Next dts * is in october and our main focus will be the unreached people group in northern part of Kenya.
Thank you for your prayers...
-
We shall be happy to hear from you too.
